Successful FAT of a 3000L Sigma Mixer for Our UK Client

Last week, Karvil Machinery hosted a returning client from the United Kingdom at our manufacturing facility. The purpose of the visit was to conduct a comprehensive Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) on their newly completed 3000L Sigma Mixer before its scheduled shipment to the UK.

Process Scale-Up: From R&D to Mass Production

The background of this project is a classic industrial scale-up. Previously, this client acquired a 3L lab-scale Sigma Kneader from Karvil Machinery to support their R&D and formulation testing.

After validating their process parameters and achieving consistent mixing uniformity on the 3L lab unit over an extended period, the client was ready to transition to full-scale manufacturing. Because the lab unit provided reliable mechanical performance and accurate process data, they returned to Karvil to commission the 3000L production model. Maintaining equipment consistency from the pilot stage to mass production is critical for handling high-viscosity materials, and we are glad our equipment met their process requirements.

The Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) Overview

During the factory visit, the client’s representatives worked directly with the Karvil engineering team to inspect the equipment. The FAT protocol is a standard procedure we follow to ensure the machine meets the agreed-upon technical specifications prior to dispatch.

The inspection covered the following key areas:

  • Mechanical Verification: Inspecting the heavy-duty construction, the precision machining of the Z-blades, and the exact clearances between the blades and the mixing trough.

  • Operational Dry Run: Running the 3000L mixer to monitor gearbox performance, motor stability, bearing temperatures, and noise levels.

  • System Testing: Evaluating the hydraulic tilting mechanism for discharging and testing the safety interlocks and control panel functionality.

The client was satisfied with the heavy-duty build quality and the stable operation of the machine during the test runs. The equipment passed all inspection criteria, and the FAT documentation was officially signed off.

Next Steps: Export Preparation

Following the successful FAT, the 3000L Sigma Mixer is now in the final stages of preparation. Our logistics team is executing the anti-rust treatments and export-grade crating required for secure sea freight. The unit will be dispatched to the port shortly for its journey to the UK facility.

Discuss Your Mixing Requirements

Scaling up a manufacturing process requires reliable equipment and a dependable manufacturing partner.
