Handling highly viscous materials like hot melt adhesives requires robust and precise mixing equipment. This week, our factory successfully finished the testing and packaging of a 5L Electric Heating Vacuum Kneader (Sigma Mixer), customized specifically for an Italian client’s R&D laboratory.
The client, an established manufacturer in the European adhesive industry, needed a compact, reliable lab-scale mixer to test new hot melt adhesive formulas before moving to mass production. Based on their strict material requirements, our engineering team configured this 5-liter unit to deliver maximum shearing force, precise temperature control, and bubble-free mixing.
Mixing hot melt adhesives is notoriously difficult due to the material's extreme viscosity when melted. Here is how we designed this 5L kneader to tackle the challenge:
1. Electric Heating System:
Hot melt adhesives must be maintained at a specific high temperature to remain fluid. This machine features a built-in electric heating jacket, allowing the operator to set and maintain exact temperatures, ensuring the adhesive melts evenly without burning.
2. High-Vacuum Environment:
Air bubbles are the enemy of high-quality adhesives. We equipped this unit with a tight-sealing vacuum system. By mixing under vacuum conditions, it forcefully extracts trapped air and moisture from the thick paste, resulting in a perfectly smooth, crystal-clear adhesive product.
3. Heavy-Duty Z-Blades (Sigma Blades):
The core of the machine features precisely machined Z-shaped blades that rotate at different speeds. This creates a massive shearing and folding action, easily tearing through the tough rubbery polymers and resins used in adhesive formulas.
4. Manual Tilting Discharge:
For a 5L lab-scale machine, efficiency and simplicity are key. The manual tilting mechanism allows the operator to easily tilt the mixing bowl using a handwheel, making the discharge of the sticky hot melt adhesive safe and effortless, while also making the cleaning process much easier.
Exporting machinery to Europe, particularly Italy, means adhering to strict mechanical and safety standards. Every weld on the stainless steel chamber was meticulously polished, and all electrical wirings were neatly organized to ensure safe, stable operation under high temperatures.
Passing our factory's rigorous heating and vacuum pressure tests, this 5L kneader is now safely packed in an export-grade wooden crate, ready for its journey to Italy. We are proud to support their research and development of next-generation adhesives.
