This 300L explosion-proof planetary mixer was supplied to a repeat customer in Romania for processing hazardous and potentially explosive materials.
The mixer combines planetary mixing, vacuum processing and jacketed temperature control in one system. All product-contact parts are made from SS316L stainless steel, with mirror-polished internal and external surfaces for applications where material compatibility and cleanability are important.
The mixing system uses two SS316L helical agitators driven by a 22 kW explosion-proof motor and hardened gearbox. The mixing speed can be adjusted from 5 to 50 rpm through a frequency inverter.
A sealed vessel, vacuum system, temperature monitoring and multiple safety interlocks allow the machine to operate under controlled process conditions.
The main agitator is powered by a 22 kW explosion-proof motor with a hardened-surface gearbox. Mixing speed is adjustable from 5 to 50 rpm, allowing the operator to match the mixing intensity to the material.
The vessel can be connected to an explosion-proof vacuum pump and buffer tank. The system is rated for a vacuum level of up to -0.09 MPa.
The buffer tank also helps protect the mixing vessel from vacuum-pump oil returning through the vacuum line.
The 381L mixing vessel is equipped with a heating jacket rated for up to 2 bar. Jacket connections are DN25.
This gives the process a separate heat-transfer circuit without exposing the material directly to the heating medium.
The vessel, agitators and other major product-contact components use SS316L stainless steel.
The vessel has a mirror-polished internal and external finish, making it suitable for applications where corrosion resistance and surface finish are important.
Safety Interlocks for Hazardous Processing
The machine incorporates multiple mechanical and electrical interlocks to reduce operating risks during lifting, mixing and vacuum processing.
Emergency Stop
Pressing the emergency-stop button immediately stops the equipment and prevents further operation until the system is reset.
Mixing & Lifting Interlock
The low-speed mixer can operate during beam lowering, while the machine uses interlocks to control the relationship between vessel position and mixing operation.
Vacuum Pressure Interlock
The lifting beam cannot rise while the vessel remains under vacuum and normal pressure has not been restored.
Automatic Cover Stop
The upper cover automatically stops when it reaches the specified lower position.
Vacuum Backflow Protection
A dedicated buffer-tank arrangement helps prevent vacuum-pump oil from flowing back into the mixing vessel.
Factory Test Before Shipment
Before delivery, the complete system was assembled and tested at the Karvil factory.
The test covers the planetary mixing system, hydraulic lifting, vacuum system, temperature monitoring and control functions.

Is this planetary mixer explosion-proof?
Yes. This configuration uses explosion-proof components for the mixing drive, vacuum system and electrical control system. The exact explosion-proof specification should be matched to the customer's hazardous-area classification.
What material are the product-contact parts made from?
The main material-contact components are made from SS316L stainless steel. The vessel is internally and externally mirror polished.
Can the mixer work under vacuum?
Yes. The mixer is equipped with an explosion-proof vacuum pump, buffer tank and vacuum piping. The specified vacuum level is up to -0.09 MPa.
Can the mixer heat the material?
Yes. The mixing vessel is equipped with a jacket rated for up to 2 bar. The jacket temperature and material temperature are monitored separately.
Can Karvil customize the mixer for hazardous materials?
Yes. The mixer can be configured according to material properties, required working volume, heating or cooling requirements, vacuum level, discharge method and hazardous-area requirements.
